The Carmellized Onion Dip with Crostini was alright as I saw more green onion vs carmellized onion and the flavor lacked depth. I added salt, but felt flat.
The cup of gumbo was hearty, rich, and a joy to eat between bold flavors, a little spice, and to want a bowl instead.
The Iowa double cut pork chop with mashed potato, sautéed mushrooms, and a gouda mornay sauce has highs and suggestions. The pork chop was smoked, seared nicely, and juicy. The potatoes and gouda mornay sauce needed to be elevated with salt and seasoning. The mushrooms sautéed were a great edition when you think of all the components together complimenting each other.
The main dish paired beautifully with the Old Fashioned made with rum under barrel aged cocktails because of the cinnamon, black pepper, and cherry notes.
