I'm extremely grateful to Corey and the Expert Auto team for their honesty and skill. I drive a 2008 Toyota Tundra (5.7 3UR‑FE) with just under 200K miles. After an oil change at another shop nearby, my truck threw a P0022 code for over‑retarded timing. When I brought it back for diagnostics, that same shop quoted me over $5K for a timing chain, camshaft sprocket, and VVT sprocket replacement.
Given the age and mileage of the truck, I wanted a second opinion. Another mechanic had described Corey as “the Toyota mechanic for Wichita,” so I brought the truck to Expert Auto. Within about an hour, Corey found the real issue: the aftermarket oil filter housing had broken, causing the oil filter to collapse and drop oil pressure to the VVT system. The fix was simply an oil change and an OEM filter housing.
