Specialties: We are a micro-orchard serving the city of Vergennes and all surrounding towns in northern Addison County. The trees were planted in 2002 focusing on a pick-your-own concept with low scaffold branches to make it easy for small family members to pick and full 360 degree access to each tree. The orchard has over 250 trees to choose from including several popular varieties - Honeycrisp, McIntosh, Empire, Cortland, Macoun, Liberty, Redfree, Rome and Sweet 16. All apples are IPM grown using the latest techniques from the University of Vermont and Cornell University. We hope that you will enjoy our orchard as much as we do. As we like to say, 'We are the smallest orchard in Vermont, serving the smallest city in Vermont'. We also have unpasteurized cider and Vermont maple syrup. Established in 2002. After 14 years of growing and running a beautiful orchard, Dave and Claudia Ambrose decided to head south for more than just the winter and put the property up for sale in 2016. My husband, Rob, grew up next door and had seen the orchard blossom, literally, from its early years. Upon hearing the property was for sale, we decided learning how to be orchardists could be a grand adventure! We made an offer before we could talk ourselves out of it and before we knew it, we were moving in.
We spent a good part of last year educating ourselves and working to revitalize the trees. This year we are anticipating a much larger yield and more consistent quality across the different varieties. Our aim is to return the orchard to its full glory and we're getting a step closer every day.
We hope you'll come visit our newly re-opened orchard this fall for beautiful apples and fresh-pressed cider. We look forward to meeting you!
