Although I drove to the area and walked around, I know that's a long ride from the Qtr, but worth it. Hoping on and off to sight see while on St Charles helps, when it's not too hot out. This was a recommended store by an English Prof I met elsewhere in the city. It was a Saturday afternoon and they were fairly busy. I still saw staff walking around helping and sprucing. I went a little crazy this time, but they had a good selection of new and used books. I was walking off the UM game @Cooters and a couple tasters @Oak St brewery. They even had comp snacks and drinks and you can spin the wheel for other goodies. 4 instead of 5 stars cause I'm a dog person(jk) Read more

I moved to New Orleans a year ago and this store is quickly becoming my “third place”. The vibe is cozy and comfy. The selection is great, with titles both popular & obscure. If you can’t find the book you’re looking for the staff is very knowledgeable and accommodating, they’ll go so far as to fill out an online order for you! Since we are on the subject of the staff, they are welcoming and extremely knowledgeable, and also willing to yap about their favorite authors or books! Another feature that sets Blue Cypress Books apart is their every rotating selection of second hand books! BCB has a program in which you can trade in your books (guidelines listed in their site) for store credit to be used on other second hand books in the store! All in all a wonderful, unique indie bookstore that makes you feel welcome as soon as the bell above the door jingles. Read more

A ton of antiquarian or collectible books, but there is a small selection. A little something for everyone. Read more

Very large section of local books and works by artists in NOLA. The staff was friendly and the prices were very reasonable. I picked up some Hemingway today, but saw four or five other books that I’ll need to purchase next time I come. This is what bookstores should be (not big box stores) and Blue Cypress fits perfectly in a beautifully eclectic neighborhood. Read more
