Travis Beals started Turning Heads Kennel at the age of 14 after begging his parents for some sled dogs. "Ok," they said, "But only if you pay for everything." Travis quickly took on odd jobs and worked around town to feed for his fledgling kennel of 9 dogs. Over the years, the number of dogs grew. At the age of 21 Travis had 35 dogs of his own and ran his first Iditarod, a 1,000 mile dog sled race across the state of Alaska. He now operates Turning Heads Kennel as a way to cover his kennel and racing expenses.
