As the engine started, the yellow "CHECK" on the dashboard appeared. Call your dealer the car manual says but their earliest appointment is 3 weeks out. A nearby auto shop graciously diagnoses the culprit but doesn't do those repairs. Two auto shops give quotes but say they will still charge for a diagnostic test ($145) despite the given diagnosis. Another friendly auto shop owner says he would do the job but his ace mechanic is not available for weeks. So he refers me to Sumida's Auto Repair and I speak with Kevin, the owner, who says he can help me next week. When I share that we only have one car, Kevin says to bring the car in tomorrow and he will work us into his schedule. While unexpected but surely appreciated, we applaud Kevin not only for his Empathy but also his Compassion for our scenario. We highly recommend Sumida's Auto Repair for quality work, excellent customer service, and peace of mind.

Sumida's auto repair gets 5 solid stars! Driving the car with 3 pointed stars comes with a hefty costs at times. I have gone to the local dealer in Honolulu which you can expect to pay very expensive charges for the smallest of repairs. Then in the years, I have gone to smaller independent shops which are little less than the dealer but I have still received sticker shock. Enter Sumida's which is a smaller shop in downtown Honolulu. I recently heard about Sumida's through word of mouth and read all good reviews of this business. I made an appointment have them look at some issues that just appeared on one of my cars and took it in early in the morning. I received a call that afternoon from Kevin Sumida who told me he inspected all of my concerns and made some adjustments which took care of the problems. I then asked how much the work was and Kevin said..."oh don't worry about it". Are you kidding? I have not heard something like that in years....EVER?!! Thank you Sumida's and

Great service! Really quick to get my safety check. No appointment needed. It was a little packed and confusing where to park. I just pulled up in front of the only open bay available and walked into their office. They were quick to help and made the whole process very easy! I will definitely return and would absolutely recommend!

Juan is the best! Nicest guy, knows his stuff. I was gone and my mom was staying at my place when my car had an issue. Juan helped her out and even spoke to my dad on the phone who is also a mechanic. All this while I was overseas. These guys are awesome! Called them up in the afternoon, said they'd squeeze me in tomorrow. Dropped my car off the following morning, everything was done by the afternoon. Serpentine belt, pulley, oil change, safety inspection, wiper blades. That's some awesome squeezing on less than 24 hours notice! Not that I'm hoping for more car trouble, but I'll be taking it in to them next time for sure. Stay safe gents!

Had some work done on my MB that at first was very much to my dissatisfaction due to strange cranking noices when I did turns left or right. Also, I experience other rumbling on slowing down speed to come to a stop. After a while, I contacted the service person Juan and was able to return the car and have all issues fixed. The problem was the FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM REARWARD BUSHING R&R BOTH SIDES. Eventually, it was all fixed, and some minor noice remains but much better, and I am very much satisfied. I would definitely recommend this shop, which specializes in Mercedes Benz primarily. Good job

I went down the road to another place which I won't name, for safety check and didn't like it since I had to wait and the mechanic wasn't suppah nice. Excellent customer service! Dropped off our car to Sumida’s Auto Repair and received a detailed link to the inspection of our Audi. The link was super easy to use and was very detailed. It included a list of things that needed to be fixed along with the corresponding pictures and estimated prices. They were quick with the repairs & my car is running great! Great place, honest, hard working staff. I stopped by with a nearly flat tire and they took me in right away. Unfortunately, turned out it was an old valve and not the tire that was leaking and so had to get this handled by my car dealership. They replaced with my spare tire and did not want to charge me for all the assessment and spare installation. Was very grateful for their service and definitely would recommend these guys to anyone that needs servicing for their vehicle.

What do you want in a repair shop? integrity. efficiency. easy to work with. that's what I got. I no longer trust the dealer...their tech said brakes were at 2mm but I had a funny feeling about it. So I took to Sumida, and they measured it at 6mm. Just one example. I would go back here for future maintenance and repairs. No question!
