I contacted 3 different companies for radon mitigation. Guardian was not the cheapest nor the most expensive, but from the way David explained their process and provided their quote, I reviewed all offers again and asked my questions. Guardian won out for good reasons: they provided the electrical hook up and explained I wouldn't owe them anything until they got my radon levels down to minimum required level of "4". That really got my attention. (My final test came in at a "1.4"). The other companies never even mentioned this; they just gave me a quote and never mentioned these types of details. One company specified I needed to hire an electrician on my own for the electric hook up, and they simply said payment was due upon completion of the job and no mention of follow-up testing. Highly recommended, excellent installation and follow-up. Our 1940 house presents a difficult but common problem in that it was built on dense clay instead of aggregate. GuardianPro said that they mitigate such houses all the time, and their approach worked. Our continuous radon monitoring system showed that our Energy Return Ventilator was struggling to keep levels below 8 pCi/L in winter, and the GuardianPro sub-slab depressurization system has reduced it to below 2 pCi/L now, without any assistance from the ERV.
