Specialties: For over 40 years, the Seascope team has been restoring vintage/classic wooden sailboats and power yachts up to 70'. The Tiedemann collection is available for private charter in Newport, RI.
For the last 25 years, Elizabeth Tiedemann du Pont has coordinated groups up to 500 for team building experiences on her America's Cup class yachts as well as pleasure sails, luncheon/cocktail/dinner cruises and family outings. Established in 1975. The late Bob Tiedemann founded Seascope with his purchase of the 68' America's Cup class yacht, "Gleam" (c. 1937). In 1980 he added the 54' classic Alden yawl, "Mariner" (c.1950).
In the mid 1980's Bob resurrected the infamous 70' America's Cup class yacht "Northern Light" (c. 1938) from the bottom of a lake in Michigan.
Elizabeth came on board in the early 1990's and together they restored the vintage 62' power yacht "Pam"(c.1921) and the historic 40' power yacht "Fawan" (c.1911).
Bob passed away at the age of 56 in 2006 with pancreatic cancer. The passion is still alive and can be experienced by privately chartering any one of these rare pedigreed vessels from May 15-October 31 in Newport, RI. The charter proceeds go into the upkeep and maintenance of this wooden boat fleet.
