Specialties: The open water certification process takes two easy steps:
Step 1) PADI eLearning and pool session
Step 2) Open water checkout dives (locally or abroad)
1) Complete the academics, and learn the scuba concepts through the PADI eLearning system (about 5-10 hours of online work). The eLearning has to be completed before the pool session. Then the pool session takes place at the Brooklyn Sport Club (1540 Van Siclen Avenue.) Pool sessions are conducted on a Saturday 9:00 am to about 4:00 pm. (only one pool session is needed.) During the pool session, first you will fill out the PADI student record file, and complete a quick review based on the concepts you studied in the eLearning, then you will proceed to the pool with your instructor. Prerequisites: Having completed the eLearning by the time of your pool session. You need adequate swimming skills, and be in good physical health. No prior experience with scuba diving is required.
Step 2) After you complete the eLearning and pool session, you will be ready for your four open water check out dives, and certification. These check out dives can be done locally with us on one of our scheduled weekends throughout the warmer months of the year. A second option would be, let's say you have a planned vacation and want to complete your checkout dives abroad, then we provide everybody with a referral form for you to take it to your certifying instructor abroad. Established in 2013. When Master Scuba Diving Trainer Raul first arrived in New York City in 2004, he was concerned that scuba diving would be limited to indoor pools. Little did he know that the diving opportunities in and around New York are almost limitless! After a few years of teaching and working for various dive shops in the city, he decided to open his own scuba training operation in 2013, and Rey Diving was born. As Rey Diving keeps growing, we are always looking forward to meeting you, and sharing the joys of scuba diving with many more students!
