Truly a hidden gem, Remick Country Doctor Museum & Farm is situated in the center of quaint Tamworth Village, on the historic Remick property, a working farm for 200+ years.
Spring thru fall, visitors can interact with farm animals, observe the day-to-day workings of the farm and the seasonal gardening process, hike interpretive trails, and enjoy the grounds — pay-as-you-wish admission. During summer months, family-friendly activities take place — including goat hikes, guided tours of the farm and modern cow-milking process, and medical history tours at the Captain Enoch Remick House (on the National Register of Historic Places) and the Edwin C. Remick House. Preregistration and paid admission is required for all activities. Numerous barns and buildings are located on the site.
The farm grounds are open spring-fall.
The museum store is open year-round (see website for seasonal hours). Established in 1996. Blending the past with the present to educate current generations about sustainable agriculture and the life of father-and-son country doctors, the Drs. Remick.
The Remick family settled in Tamworth more than 200 years ago. Six generations of the family worked the land that encompasses the farmstead, with each generation prospering and active in the town's history. The last two generations produced country doctors: Dr. Edwin Remick and his son, Dr. Edwin "Doc" Crafts Remick. Together they provided medical care for the local area for 99 years. Additionally, they farmed the land and Doc Remick created the first milk pasteurization business north of Rochester, NH.
Before his death in 1993, Dr. Edwin Crafts Remick created a foundation to preserve his home, farm, and family history in a way that the public could learn from and enjoy.
