Another great find. The term Gastropub often puts me off as it normally means pretentious and overpriced these days. This was neither.A fairly small pub with a good genuine atmosphere. The Guinness was good, the food was decent in quality and amount and the service from both the barman and the servers was friendly. Price of drink and food was far more reasonable than Manhattan prices. We stopped here on the way to the Prudential Centre to watch the NJ Devils. The football (proper football ie soccer) memorabilia littering the place was great for a footie fan.Food: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Atmosphere: 5/5

Down the street a walk away from Penn station. Food was lovely, local atmosphere. What brought me here was it's close by to the area I'm staying and it's open to midnight when other places are closed by 9pm and there's nothing to do. Our bartender was cool she was Brazilian Italian fun spirited. There were other customers who were nice and friendly and some were ready to give recommendations to what to see and check out. When staying in Newark, it's one of the places to check and hang out.

What can i say. This place completely understands its function as "the bar right next to the train station". Cheap beer, delicious food, friendly people, and if you suddenly *need* to get your food in a to-go box and settle your check *now*, they *understand*, which is so, so important. You guys rock.Food: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Atmosphere: 5/5

Bello's is an easy 5 stars. It's also a place near and dear to me. I've been to Bello's many many many times and can't say enough good things about the place. The team of bartenders is as good as it gets as they're always attentive to make sure you get the drink you want, don't have an empty, and can order what you want from their great menu. Bello's menu is really solid. They knock it out of the park with traditional bar food but also have some unique menu items for what might otherwise be considered a typical bar menu and sometimes they'll surprise you with some off menu specials. If you're in the North Jersey area, check out Bello's. If you don't like it, that's a You problem, not a Bello's problem. Cheers!Food: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishesBeer Selection, Sweet Potato Fries, Cajun Chicken Quesadilla

The drinks are worth it at this location! Price are reasonable and so is the food. Also, the people are very welcoming. I've tried a few dishes here and I was pleased with what I ordered. I ordered the Crab club with old bay fries and it was AMAZING! My partner had the pasta and shrimp with vodka sauce. Now, this did not taste well. It was missing flavor and the shrimp were over cooked. The shrooms as an appetizer blew our minds! I'd definitely purchase that again. I will tell you to try this location out for yourself and you will not be disappointed in the drinks. Strong if you like whiskey and great prices for beers. Also heard if you purchase 400 beers at this location in a year, you get your own VIP seat at the bar.

Friendly sports bar a short walk from Penn Station in the Ironbound section of Newark, New Jersey. Service is friendly, and the menu offers sandwiches and appetizers. I received free refills on my ice tea, which was welcome. Clean and unpretentious place.

If you are near Penn station and you have time to kill this is a good draft beer pub. Always my first stop in Newark. The bar food is good and prices are reasonable. I've never had a problem getting a spot at the bar but it fills up quick. Very steady business with plenty or regulars and diverse crowd.Food: 4/5 | Service: 4/5 | Atmosphere: 4/5Noise levelModerate noiseGroup sizeSuitable for all group sizesSeating typeIndoor dining area, Bar area, Outdoor patio / terrace, Counter seating

We went here before a NJ Devils game and we got right inThey were very busy the entire time we were there but the service was great and the food was also. Only issue I saw was that the bathroom doors closed but had no lock or any way to keep it close. We did have a good time and would go back for sure , maybe they could put a new lock on the men's room .Food: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Atmosphere: 5/5Noise levelLoud, but you can still talkGroup size1 person, 2 people, 3-4 people, 5-8 peopleWait timeNo waitParking spaceDifficult to find parkingParking optionsPaid street parkingKid-friendlinessIt is a bar so not seeing it good for small kidsWheelchair accessibilityEasy access

10/20/2025 We came to Newark just to revisit Bello’s & They didn’t disappoint! My gosh this establishment has the *best employees and customers! Thank you PEGGY! 🩷 Wonderful experience again! Thank you Andrew and John.Special thanks for putting the Kraken game on for us!The locals at this tavern are warm and welcoming. We really felt as if we were hanging out with friends.Food - we started with the grilled zucchini with feta and mint, delicious! I had the Gnocchi (special) and it was outstanding! There might just be a magician in their kitchen! Mr. Wonderful enjoyed the Cajun burger. Everything was served at the proper temperature and cooked to perfection.Food: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Atmosphere: 5/5

Came to Bello’s before a show at the Prudential Center, and as others have noted, it’s definitely a convenient option. I ordered the Bello Burger, and it was awesome. Thick and meaty, topped with mushrooms, caramelized onions, and provolone. So good. That said, if you’re going before a show, get there early. It gets really busy and the kitchen can definitely get backed up. My burger took about 45 minutes to come out. Good pre-show spot, just plan accordingly.Noise levelLoud, but you can still talkSeating typeBar area, Booth seating

Convenience on the way home. I stopped on a whim a few weeks ago. I decided to return today. Titos and cranberry was tasty...I was reluctant to order the calamari and pasta, Well im glad I did! Good portions and definitely a to-go bag. The service is always pleasant. A nice mixed crowd of afterwork to pregamers for events. Ill be back for the lamb burger. Much appreciatedFood: 4/5 | Service: 4/5 | Atmosphere: 4/5Noise levelLoud, but you can still talkWait timeNo waitSeating typeIndoor dining area, Bar area, Outdoor patio / terrace

Bello’s pub is a solid pub steps away from Newark train station. It makes it an ideal choice before a Prudential Center event.Good selection on the menu. Prices are reasonable. They get very crowded and service is a bit slow as a result of their success. I recommend the lamb sliders on the menu. They are absolutely delicious.
