The Old Florida Book Shop is pure magic! From the moment you step inside, you’re surrounded by towering shelves packed with a wide variety of works…everything from rare antiquarian treasures to newer classics and hidden gems. The prices are fantastic, especially considering the quality and uniqueness of the selection. The atmosphere is cozy…dim warm lighting, the scent of old pages, and the quiet hum of literary history all around you. William, the charming and incredibly knowledgeable owner, makes browsing a joy. And right at the entrance, you’ll be greeted by Peter, the resident cat, who takes his job as furry ambassador very seriously. If you love books, history, or just the feeling of stepping into another world, you’ll fall in love here. It's complicated... but first, there is a very impressive selection of mostly used books. A lot of vintage titles. There's a small section with books signed by the author. I think if you were looking for something in particular or rare, they might have it or help you find it. The interior of the store is very interesting and aestetically pleasing. The book shelves go way up to the ceiling, which is probably 20 feet. There's a ladder with wheels on a rail attached to the bookcase. I assume this is the only way to reach the books higher than books one can reach. I assume it's only for use by employees (?) but I didn't ask. Unfortunately, the super cool "look" of a 20-foot high bookcase means you can only browse the lower half without the ladder. It's not like the out-of-reach books are "extra" stock. The higher shelves had books I wanted to browse, but it's just too difficult. I don't want the hassle of asking staff or being on a ladder just to browse. Additionally, there is a row of boo

What a fascinating bookstore. Unlike any I’ve ever visited. Just so many books and the display is amazing. If there is a used book you want they probably have it.

This place is absolutely magical…..Who would have thought that such a gem exists locally, I thought I transported to a portal to the UK or somewhere in Europe. The older gentleman who runs this shop is an absolute doll….you can tell he’s truly passionate about the books in the store. So much history and knowledge preserved in one spot I’m overwhelmed with joy when surrounded by a rich piece of history. The library cat was and added bonus. Reminded me of my favorite cat Tom Charles II. Please visit, be respectful and come absorb the beauty of this historical getaway.

A small but beautiful little book store with a rich history and glass to it. Walking in you are transported back to another era of traditional solid wood book cases pack floor to ceiling with books. Not a place to get loud or touchy but a place to admire and find works of art, historical and classic books. We met William and he was so soft and beautifully spoken. You can tell this a passion of his and a shop he truly loves and should be shared with people who have the same values.

The Old Florida Bookstore is a true hidden gem. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted with the charm of a bygone era—wooden shelves stacked high with treasures, the cozy smell of well-loved books, and a sense of calm that only a quaint bookstore can offer. What really makes this place magical is its resident cat, who loves to play hide and seek among the stacks. Finding him peeking around corners or tucked between books adds such a delightful, whimsical touch to the browsing experience. It feels less like shopping and more like stepping into a storybook. The selection here is fantastic, with something for everyone—whether you’re a collector hunting for rare finds or just looking for your next great read. The staff are welcoming and clearly love what they do, making you feel right at home. This isn’t just a bookstore; it’s an experience. A must-visit spot that makes you want to linger, explore, and maybe even leave with more books than you planned.

It’s a very beautiful book store that has almost all the books of different genres covered and there well be no book that you won’t find here. You name it and you will find the book. Moreover the best thing of the vibe and the ambience of the place, that is something next level. It has a vintage feel.

This is an amazing place to go to for a great book, they also have magazines from the 1800 and early 1900 . You can take some really nice pictures, it’s like a museum. Priced very good.

An incredibly cozy environment. Not only do they have books, but also old postcards and coins and so many hidden treasures! I feel like I could have spent a whole day in there! The cat was also an incredible bonus, such a friendly little guy!

This place was a wonderful stop one afternoon when I needed to disconnect from the outside world for a while. The collection of books is diverse, well organized, and prices are fair. Walking in feels like you're stepping into another world entirely. I left with a book about my favorite artist and a sense of calm I haven't felt in so long. I will most definitely be back!

Absolutely gobsmacked by this place. We’ve been visiting SFL for years and never knew this existed. It was a bit overwhelming as it’s in a bit of disarray and so packed inside and out with books. Books books books and more books. It’s amazing. For a reader… well, I actually got teary. No lie. I wanted to browse and browse but alas…. time and husbands wait for no one. lol

This place is phenomenal!!!! I can’t believe something like this exists in South Florida. What a hidden gem! This place has floor to ceiling books, some records, CDs, rare/antique books, and so much mor. If you’re a bibliophile, this place is a must. Thanks for the excellent service, Elena. Will definitely be back for sure!

One of the most unique bookstores I’ve visited. With antiques scattered around and shelves reaching the ceiling, it honestly feels like stepping into a fantasy world. They have a great mix of secondhand books, old maps, foreign currency, postcards, and magazines all well organized and priced. The owner and staff were friendly and helpful, and the shop cat adds to the cozy vibe, usually napping or letting people pet him. I would say this is the perfect place to slow down, browse, and explore what the shop has to offer.

I adore this bookstore. The comforting scent of old books fills the air, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Its shelves offer a delightful selection, ranging from cherished vintage editions to contemporary works. Though it can grow quite busy at times, its charm never fade! A must visit if you’re in the area or town

Old Florida Bookshop is an absolute gem. Prices and selection galore with literature from all over the world. You can easily spend hours browsing and still not see everything. Warm, old-school charm and stacks that invite you to slow down and wander. And don’t forget to visit the kitty 😻. A must-stop for any book lover. If you want it a touch shorter or more playful, say the word 📚✨

The Old Florida Book Shop is truly an example of don’t judge a book by its cover (sorry - had to say it - lol). The outside is a typical strip mall location with parking right in front. As you approach the entrance, you find tons of books for sale to be paid - on the honor system - for two dollars to be left in a marked box. When you enter, it is very cozy and dreamy inside. There are floor to ceiling books set in beautiful wooden bookshelves. It looks to be all preowned books from all different time frames and subject matters. Lots of reading options to choose from.

Wow! What a unique bookstore. I’ve never seen any place like this. It felt like we were in a super old bookstore and you could feel the passion that went into finding all those titles. Truly a magnificent bookstore.
