Specialties: Nova has almost 50 years’ experience operating in Alaska and truly offers the full gamut of river and glacier trips. Enjoy the perfect half-day getaway adventure on one of their daily rafting tours ranging from beginner class 3/4 whitewater on Lions Head to the challenging class 5 Six Mile Creek. Maybe embark on a true adventure with a multi-day camping/rafting journey flying over mountain tops and upriver valleys. Or see the wonder and marvel of one of Alaska’s most accessible glaciers by foot with Nova’s daily Matanuska glacier trips. Only a couple hours long these trips are great for creating a perfect half or full day escape. The Glacier Tour is their most popular trip and is relatively easy and perfect for most abilities. More adventurous folks should check out their more extensive Adventure Trek or Backcountry Ice Climb. If fly outs are more your style check out their new Knik glacier trips with Outbound Heli Adventures. From SUP boarding on glacial lakes to trekking and beyond! Established in 1975. NOVA is Alaska’s most experienced river and glacier adventure company still under original ownership. Since 1975, we have accomplished many firsts in guided adventure travel in Alaska, including the first to offer commercial whitewater rafting on Alaska rivers and the first guided hikes on the Matanuska Glacier more than 25 years ago.
Our early wilderness trips included several first descents and trips through the newly formed National Parks and Refuges with organizations like National Geographic, Connaissance du la Mode and the National Audubon Society. Our expertise in this theater has grown over the years to include combination trips that offer mountain and glacier trips with river trips.
