The 6 week Khmer class was great! A good mixture of reading and speaking instruction.

As someone who is 1st generation Khmer, not born - but raised in the U.S., I grew up with insecurities speaking my native tongue. I've taken 3 Khmer classes before, but they never stuck with me. Perhaps it was a mix of lack of motivation and determination because I was younger, but taking Linda's classes through the MLS this past Fall really got me over the hump. I still have a long way to go, but I appreciate her curriculum, patience and sense of humor - puts me at ease to want to learn more. Not only do I want to learn how to speak better, to read and write in Khmer for my personal use and goals, but my professional goals as well. In my current line of work, I often get called on to help with Khmer translation, and although the clients does speak English too, I would prefer to communicate better in Khmer to further support them. I am fortunate to have employers who encourages workforce development and allowed to take these classes. Muneeb has been great with helping through the proce

I very much liked my teacher. In addition to teaching from the book, she also gave additional useful information about Italian culture. I took Italian to build confidence in speaking. The class was small which was good because you have an opportunity to speak more. The class was a little pricey especially the book we were using. I had more experience with the language than my classmates, so the class was also too slow paced. In the areas that I was not familiar, the slow pace worked well. I will take another class in the future.

Overall, my experience with the Merrimack Language School has been positive. English is my first language and I am taking the group Portuguese class. The professora, Caroline, is wonderful! She is organized, a true teacher, and very friendly. Caroline é uma professora qualificada. This school is slightly more expensive than alternatives (nearby adult continuing education programs offer 10-week language classes for about $260) but the class size at Merrimack is much smaller; the teacher to student ratio is approximately 1:4 instead of the typical 1:20 at other locations. I do believe that the slightly higher price is worth it. I have one gripe. The website for this school is awful. It's not mobile friendly and I haven't ever been able to successfully register for class through the website (I have submitted the online registration form several times and get the message that it has been submitted successfully but NOTHING ever happens and I have to call in to the school to register). Merrimack Language School offers an impressive range of language courses for adults at an affordable price. The courses are non-academic, by which I mean they are not college-credit-earning courses. Thanks to that, they can be tailored to fit the needs of the students enrolled in any given course at any given level. My wife and I enrolled in Portuguese Level 1 and it was quite enjoyable and very effective. Our instructor, Senhora Carolina, was experienced as well as pleasant, we really enjoyed learning from her and interacting with her in our classes. The school is run by Muneeb, and he effectively handled the administrative details required to operate an enterprise of this nature. Overall, everything about the experience was positive. We hope to return sometime in the near future for further instruction in Portuguese.

After spending some time in China on business, I decided to learn some Chinese. The Mandarin Level 1 class at Merrimack Language School was a perfect fit for me. The staff at MLS is wonderful, and my teacher was excellent! I recommend Merrimack Language School for everyone.

I am Brazilian, and I studied at Merrimack English School during my exchange program, where I had an amazing experience. The school has great infrastructure, offers various language courses, and also provides translation services. The teachers are qualified, and the English teacher I had was very good. I found the teaching methods extremely effective and engaging. The classes were well-structured and covered writing, comprehension, dialogue creation, and, most importantly, conversation, which made a huge difference in my language progress. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to learn English in an immersive and dynamic way!

I took the French class from Level 1 to Level 3, and it was a great experience. My teacher, Jacques, is very organized—he outlines all the key points we need to learn during the class. He is also incredibly patient; during exercises, he quickly notices when we struggle and helps me repeatedly until I fully understand. I highly recommend this class to anyone looking for a structured and engaging way to learn the language!
