The Mad River Inn puts the best of the Valley at your fingertips.
Established in 2021. The Mad River Inn was originally the primary farm house on the east side of the Mad River between Waitsfield and Moretown. The original section of the house was constructed in 1860. The original crop grown was soldier beans, a New England starchy cold weather hardy bean. The framing and interior trim was milled on site, and remains mostly intact and untouched. The home underwent major renovations and additions in 1910. A few decades later plumbing and electricity were added. Eventually a bridge was constructed to easier access the east side of the Mad River, and the home was convert to a Ski Hostel that slept 58 people in the 1950’s with Mad River Glenn and Sugarbush bringing tourist from Boston and NYC. The surrounding farm land was slowly sold off, many of the barns were removed, and the home was converted to a Bed and Breakfast in 1987. New owners took over in 2021, and continue to operate the Inn today.
