José-Libaniel Rojas owner of J1D was born in Bogotá Colombia. Surrounded by a family of musicians, José developed a deep love and appreciation for Latin music. With his Uncles' influence José began exploring the sounds of Salsa, Bolero and Merengue. In 1986 José's mother moved the family to the U.S. in search of opportunity. While in school José's interest and passion for music blossomed.
At age 9 José began studying the trumpet. His music instructors praised that he was a natural talent and performer. José loved being on stage. During a performance, he was spotted by a talent scout who offered him an opportunity to join Los Tropicales, an orchestra of Colombian Cumbia-style salsa. At the age of 14 José was performing in night clubs and venues around the metro area. Although many predicted José would continue on to become a musician he realized his true passion by watching the crowds he was making music for. He wanted to DANCE!
