About Flattop Mountain Shuttle
For Anchorage visitors without rental cars who want to get from downtown (sea level) to the trailhead (2200') so they can hike the mountain (1350 elevation gain; 3 mile roundtrip hike) and then back downtown. Only $25 per person round trip or $17 one way with a bike on back of van. No deposit; cancel anytime. No guide is needed to hike this popular, easy to follow trail. Great views. Van departs Downtown Bicycle Rental at about noon and returns at 4:30. Van remains parked at trailhead while you hike. In a nutshell this service provides a 30 mile "low key" circuit tour of the Anchorage bowl and an unguided mountain hike above it. Noon - 4:30 excursion. Service runs from May 21 - August 19.

Only a tour guide like Pete could make a cloudy day memorable. We didn’t make it to the top, but he showed us a secondary trail which ended at a beautiful river flowing through. Great value and well worth it, even if you don’t complete the very challenging climb! Recommended activities Hiking, Walking Restrooms Restrooms are basically really nice looking outhouses.

Excellent Service, informative and a short tour of Anchorage. I really wanted to hike, but had no transport to the trail head. This place solved that problem. Great Service!! Pete takes you to the trail head, has great communication and is very informative. Make sure to wear hiking shoes or boots with traction, or Pete will make you wear a used pair for safety reasons Recommended activities Hiking

It was an extremely good experience, which depended primarily on the owner of this business, Pete. This is an example of customer focus for many, and we have something to compare it to. He carefully checks your shoes to see if they are suitable for climbing the mountain, and thus takes part of the responsibility for your safety. If necessary, he gives you free special trekking shoes for the duration of this trip and it turned out to be really necessary, otherwise we would not have been able to climb to the very top of the mountain. Pete is friendly and has a good sense of humor, which also makes the shuttle ride pleasant and interesting. On the way back, he offered to give us a ride to an apartment that was out of his way.
