I called and spoke to someone on the phone who was so kind and friendly. Then when I stopped by, I loved seeing the selection of gifts (including jelly cat stuffies)! The staff was again friendly and kind! I totally recommend checking them out!

Such a cozy, cheerful little spot — a perfect mix of boutique and local charm. It’s trendy in the best way: cute and modern but still has that “true general store” feel. You’ll find everything from funny, giftable items to Kansas-themed jewelry, clever room sprays, and even reusable “paper” plates that are both adorable and hilarious. The selection feels curated with care and a sense of humor. Mike helped us during our visit, and he was so kind and genuine — friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to chat with. He told us about a local brand they carry that supports a charity, which I really appreciated. Prices were reasonable, especially for such a well-curated shop. Whether you’re a local or visiting, it’s worth a stop. It’s the kind of place you could visit often and still find something new — I know I’ll make it an early stop next time I’m in town!

The General Store & Co. is an absolute gem in downtown Overland Park! Every time I stop by, I find something new and delightful — it’s the perfect place to pick up a gift, whether you’re shopping for a friend, family member, or just want to treat yourself. Everything here is so cute, clever, and funny — you can tell the items are chosen with real care and personality. Mike, the owner, is incredibly friendly and helpful. He always greets you with a smile and genuinely seems excited to help you find the right thing. It’s such a refreshing, personal experience compared to big box stores. I love supporting local businesses, and The General Store & Co. makes it easy. The quality, the charm, and the atmosphere are unbeatable. Do yourself a favor and stop in next time you’re downtown! You’ll definitely leave with a smile (and probably a bag full of gifts you didn’t know you needed).
