Tours of the Eudora Welty House are given Tuesday - Friday, four times a day at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. and 9 and 11 a.m. the second Saturday of each month.
The EVC is free and open to the public Tuesday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 8:30 a.m. to noon the second Saturday of each month. All tours begin in the EVC which houses our gift shop, permanent and temporary exhibits, orientation film room, rest rooms and staff offices. Visitors are welcome to visit the EVC, watch the orientation film and stroll through the garden at no charge. Established in 1925. Eudora Welty was a writer of international acclaim whose novels and short stories earned numerous literary awards, including the 1973 Pulitzer Prize for her novel The Optimist's Daughter. Her home at 1119 Pinehurst Street in Jackson, Mississippi, was built by her parents in 1925. It was the place she called home for the last 76 years of her life, and where she crafted many, and polished all, of her works of fiction, book reviews and essays.
