Awesome bookshop on Oahu-great selection across the board, kids books, Pacific Islands, Art, and current. Love this place and can’t wait till we can start having events again! thank you! Note to the nursing mamas…parking across the street is inexpensive, shaded, and good people watching!

This small bookstore is a hidden gem. They have a good selection of the Current as well as a large selection of Hawaii focused books. Since they are a publisher and distributor, they often have seconds at a discount. Don't miss the clearance and specials in the back warehouse area.

This is one of my all time favorite bookshops. The selections are thoughtful, refreshed often, and always enjoyable. Some of my favorite finds here are poetry anthologies from Hawaiian and local writers. Even my kids love coming and getting to pick out a new book every so often. For gifts or personal perusal, da Shop has something for everyone and for all ages.

Super cute shop with a large children's section, including an adorable little hidden couch nook where kids can sit and read while their parents look around. Also includes a big selection of both children's and adult books on Hawaiian culture, from history to surfing. Plus, lots of coffee table books, a great cookbook section, and a well-curated range of novels and nonfiction with something for everyone (ask the friendly and knowledgeable staff for recommendations). Parking is in a lot across the street. We bought four books and got a free sweet da Shop tote bag. Love this place!

As far as I could tell, this seemed to be the most unique independent bookstore on Oahu. However, when I visited bookstores around the world, I did not find any zines in their collections, and such DIY culture does not seem to exist on Oahu yet. However, it is worth mentioning that it is a conscientious bookstore.

This is a great little independent bookstore. I saw the NY Times review and thought I should check it out. Knowledgeable staff definitely makes a difference. We enjoyed chatting with Alyssa and finding out about different culture highlights in town too: we made it a point to drop by the state Capitol Modern museum and visit the exhibit that Alyssa curated !

My family had a wonderful experience at this bookstore! The space is relaxing, with a well-curated selection of titles, especially those relating to Hawaii and local stories. I appreciated the staff recommendations, which helped us pick a couple great books! The children’s section had comfortable chairs for little ones, and my son enjoyed sitting while he paged through and chose a book for himself. The book he selected has been a highlight of our visit to O‘ahu, as he’s spent much of our time here reading science facts aloud from it! All-in-all, highly recommend visiting da Shop and finding your next read :)

It is such a charming and fun book store. Especially, children's book section has a great variety of books. I think you can find a couple of lovely books for someone as a gift. I feel like "I want them all" in this section. You can park across the street. After browsing interesting books here, you may walk around Kaimuki main street and grab a bite. I am glad to find another hidden gem in Kaimuki!

Such a peaceful precious spot to find some great new reads. Spent a while here just browsing and enjoyed their big selection of hawaiian and AAPI literature, and was happy to see a lot of cultural and historical classics. They also had a little 20-50% table tucked away in the back and I got to snag a limited book on collected Taiwanese Indigenous stories. Would highly recommend coming to support!

Very sweet store. They have a carefully curated selection. There are also cards and gifts in addition to books. The person who helped me was very kind. I will definitely visit again when I’m in Honolulu.

The place is small, but I love their book curation process! They provide statements on cards for some curated books. There's a room in the back for community events like workshops or classes. Located in central Kaimuki, you can easily find nearby coffee shops. The place is very accessible by bus, and the staff are humble and appreciative.

Amazon had this book online for almost $200, and finding it on the Island was impossible. I contacted several stores, and Da Shop was the only one that took down my phone number and promised to call me back. A few months later, I received a call informing me that they had managed to get a few copies of the book, and I could purchase it for just $50 if I were still interested. What a surprise, both with the follow-up and the fair price! I really appreciated your help; that was outstanding!

The shop and Bess Press are legendary. So many amazing titles have been produced throughout the years! Excellent Hawaiian Culture books, amongst other topics. The only thing is, parking sucks unless you use the big municipal lot across the street (no stars deducted as this isn't their fault...it's the reality of Kaimuki)
