Specialties: The Community Cycling Center shop is dedicated to lowering barriers to cycling and getting more people on bikes safely, economically and conveniently. Our vision is to build a vibrant community where people of all backgrounds use bicycles to stay healthy and connected. We offer a huge selection of new and used bikes, parts, and accessories.
We offer bikes to fit any budget and a wide array of new and used accessories so you can feel safe and comfortable on your ride. We also stock the most extensive selection of refurbished bicycles and used parts in town.
If you already have a bike, you can bring in your bicycle for a free mechanical assessment and cost estimate. Our staff of talented mechanics can repair a wide array of bikes from the very old to the latest and greatest in low-tech machines.
As a nonprofit, the proceeds from the sale of our new and used parts, bicycles, and professional repair services benefit our year-round bicycle education programs for youth and adults. Established in 1994. Over 20 years ago, founder Brian Lacy noticed kids riding around Portland on bikes that needed repairs. As a trained mechanic, Lacy had an idea: show these kids how to fix their own bikes and help create a sustainable environment and community. Kids began exploring the neighborhoods of Portland by bike, getting to know their neighbors, and learning the history of their surroundings. Soon members of the local community began to donate bikes they didn't need. In this way, the bicycle became a tool for empowerment.
Over time, many community members offered creative contributions, helping us grow into the robust non-profit that we are today. We operate a full-service bike shop, and we love helping riders build their skills and confidence. Our programs and projects benefit underserved communities allowing kids to ride to school, adults to ride to work, and many people to ride for health and recreation.
