Specialties: Wildlife hospital and nature center specializing in rescue and rehabilitation of birds of prey and public education to enhance appreciation, understanding, respect, and stewardship of the natural world. Established in 1987. This non-profit organization moved to its current facility and opened to the public in 1994. The clinic receives between 250 and 300 birds each year that are sick, or have been injured, displaced, or orphaned - usually in some interaction with humans. Such things as collisions with vehicles, hitting windows and power lines, electrocution, poisoning, gunshot, or nest destruction through logging, landscaping, or agriculture have brought in over 5000 birds since the organization was founded.
On the education side, visitors see around 50 non-releasable birds of some 30 different species, most native to Oregon. These ambassadors also visit area schools and are on display at public events.
CRC is dependent on its large volunteer base, with over 120 volunteers supplementing its small staff of 7 full-time employees, and is community supported, receiving no city, state or federal funding.
