Blaines opened their doors with a house paint store in 1953, with John and Helen Blaine. The store was purchased 2 years later by Dean and Trudy Weeks who soon after, opened the business to picture framing and art material sales. Rene Haag, the current owner began working for the Weeks family in 1986 and purchased the business from them in 1998. Rene opened a second location on the Palmer-Wasilla highway in 2000. In 2006, the second location was closed. In 2010, Rene built a new store on the corner of Cope Street and Benson Blvd and opened the doors for business there on August 20, 2010.
