Specialties: Bike Farm is an all volunteer-run collective dedicated to every aspect of bicycle education, from safe commuting to repair. Our mission is to provide a space where people can learn about the bicycle and build community around promoting sustainable transportation. We strive to demystify the bicycle in order to impact the city in a healthy and positive way. Established in 2008. Friends Ariel Raymon and Becca Dillon envisioned Bike Farm in the summer of 2007. The Bike Church of Santa Cruz, CA inspired Ariel to form this non-profit as a resource for an underserved population interested in learning bike maintenance. Ariel and Becca garnered interest by talking up the project at many of Portland's bike events. Building a core group of volunteers who organized non profit documents, they compiled lists of tools needed and formatted the business structure. By November, Bike Farm received non-profit status, raised funds for basic tools, and decided upon a home for the shop at NE Wygant & Garfield. Bike Farm became a professional workspace, with rent to pay, and even liability insurance. However, Bike Farm maintains its existence as an entirely volunteer run community space where you -- yes you! -- can learn how to fix your bike.
