The deck and lawn are dog-friendly for well behaved, amiable dogs. All pets must be leashed while at the Bayou. The Bayou offers a wide variety of craft beer, including 19 beers on tap. The beer menu offers special emphasis on North Carolina Craft brews. Wine is available by the glass or by the bottle, with "Wine Amnesty" being offered in the adjacent Bayou General Store. A full range of cocktails is also available. The restaurant offers Full Menu service late every day. Laissez les Bon Temps Rouler at the Bayou Smokehouse and Grill! Established in 2003. The original Bayou was opened by Texas-Louisiana couple David and Winston Ammann in Charlotte, NC in 1988. During a trip to the NC mountains back in the 1990's the Ammanns fell in love not only with snow skiing but also with the High Country and began to formulate a plan to eventually move there. The chance came in 2003, when the Bayou Smokehouse & Grill was opened in Downtown Banner Elk. As it was in Charlotte, so it is in Banner Elk . . . the Bayou has developed a close-knit family of friends from both old guests and new.
