Specialties: Established in 1958, Augusta Christian Schools operates a preschool, elementary, junior and senior high schools, and the School of Talent Development for students with special learning needs. It is an independent, nondenominational Christian district located in Martinez, Ga. Its high school campus includes academic, fine arts and athletic facilities, and computer, science and home economics laboratories. The district offers various sports activities, including football, softball, cross country, basketball, cheerleading, baseball, track, tennis, volleyball, wrestling and golf. It also offers community service and mission projects, and organizes educational field trips for students. The district is approved by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the Georgia Accrediting Commission, and the Association of Christian Schools International. Established in 1958. In 1958, God led a small group of Christians with a vision for Christian education to found Augusta Christian School. It opened that first year with one teacher and a kindergarten class of 8 students.
After meeting for three years at Druid Park Church, the school moved to a facility on Golden Camp Road and was incorporated that same year. By 1972 there were 334 students in grades K-8.
Seeming tragedy struck when a fire devastated the facilities. Through God's faithfulness, later in 1972 His provision of 26 acres of property on Baston Road in Martinez was to be the current home for Augusta Christian Schools.
The year 1978 was highlighted by the joyful occasion of the first graduating class of ACS. In 1981, ACS was accredited by the Georgia Accrediting Commission. A high school building was constructed in 1983 with the extension the following year. The School of Talent Development was founded in 1990.
