The business was begun by Robert Breckenridge after graduating from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Outdoor Recreation and a teaching certificate in Biological Science. After teaching a few years in high school and work as a River Ranger during summers in Utah, he returned to CSU to start course work on an MBA program. It was here that the Poudre River once again got into his blood, just as it had during the undergraduate years. Rafting & kayaking had been a passion during his time at CSU and with the advent of self bailing rafts in the early 80's there was now a way to run lay people down the more challenging stretches of the River and for them to experience the full mystique of the Poudre. After starting the business in 1982 and building a house along the River, the rest, as they say, is history.
