Position Summary:
The goal of the Veterans Resource Center (VRC) at Veterans Place is to provide initial frontline services to American Military Veterans facing homelessness and serve as a bridge to other more comprehensive services provided by the Veterans Administration and other community-based organizations. Veterans attending the VRC will receive breakfast, lunch, initial case management, referral services and programming designed to help them to break the cycle of homelessness. The VRC Manager will be the person with primary responsibility for management and execution of the case management, programming, and refinement of the program. The VRC Manager will also be responsible for development of community partnerships and outreach services.
Position Responsibilities:
Service Activities:
- Coordinate with Veterans Administration staff to establish eligibility of attending Veterans for services
- Develop relationships other agencies, including the Veterans Administration, to maintain a network of services and support.
- Refer Veterans to appropriate Veterans Place programs (HVRP, Transitional Housing, etc.)
- Assist Veterans in accessing services in the region.
- Coordinate referrals of Veterans to the VA and other community-based providers for additional services based on needs and eligibility (this includes expanding existing referral network as necessary).
- Oversee the delivery of services within the scope of this program and make recommendations to the Veterans Place Director of Client Services for further development and refinement of the program.
- Oversee VRC Specialists, Programmatic Staff, Urban League workers, interns, and volunteers.
- Drive Veterans Place vehicles in support of the VRC as needed.
Clinical Activities:
- Conduct intake assessments with Veterans upon entry of the VRC and coordinate with Veterans Administration staff to establish eligibility of Veterans for services
- Perform case finding functions and outreach, identifying and screening clients for psychosocial needs
- Conduct intake assessments and develop goal plans in collaboration with the
Veteran and other provider organizations including the Veterans Administration.
- Coordinate referrals of Veterans to the Veterans Administration and other community based
providers for additional services based on needs and eligibility (this includes expanding the existing referral network as necessary).
- Exercise and coordinate a variety of individual and group counseling techniques that are evidence-based and demonstrate good clinical practice.
- Maintain case records in accordance with program guidelines and professional requirements.
- Implement legal and ethical standards of service delivery, privacy and confidentiality, complying with all applicable regulations.
Program Development:
- Take part in community events pertinent to serving Veterans.
- Coordinate supportive services with applicable providers including the Veterans Administration.
- Work closely with the VA Grant and Per Diem Liaison to ensure a high quality of services.
- Work with the after-hours staff to develop and support community building activities during non-business hours
Communication:
- Deliver resources related to housing, employment, alternative forms of income, etc. to Veterans.
- Prepare reports as requested by other Veterans Place and Veterans Administration staff.
- Participate in administrative, staff, clinical, and in-service activities and training as required.
- Prepare written reports and complete documents as requested by the VA Grant and Per
Diem Liaison/Director of Client Services.
- Communicate policies and the rationale behind them to residents.
- Inform other agency staff members of relevant matters related to the VRC.
- Work closely with other program Managers to ensure consistent service delivery is being provided to Veterans.

Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience required
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience working directly with the homeless population strongly preferred
- Ability to relate well to others and handle administrative responsibilities.
- Must have a valid drivers license
- Veteran Status preferred
- Passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening is required and a background check will be conducted
