Position Summary
This position is temporary and is responsible for the overall safe operation of the Wellness Center and the safety of all individuals using the Wellness Center while enforcing facility policies and procedures.Duties & Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions
- Performs routine public contact and safety work.
- Performs CPR and First Aid on active or passive individuals.
- Implements safety practices while individuals use Wellness Center equipment.
- Assists in fitness assessments.
- Assists with assessment procedures.
- Assists with wellness consultations.
- Assists with the maintenance of Wellness Center, all fitness equipment and upkeep of the office.
- Attends meetings, trainings, workshops and seminars as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks
- Ability to work with hand tools to assist in the maintenance of the Wellness Center equipment
- Ability to work independently
- Knowledge in maintaining effective working relationships
- Knowledge in health/human performance or related field
- Knowledge in the operation of sports equipment
- Knowledge on how to develop and teach exercise programs with specific goals and populations
Work Environment and Physical Factors
- Physical activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, repetitive motions, and hearing are daily activities of the job.
- Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 45 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects is required.
- The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy and make general observations of facilities or structures.
- Subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and occasionally outside. May be subjected to temperatures (below 60 degrees) for periods of more than one hour; and extreme heat temperatures (above 90 degrees) for periods of more than one hour.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalency required.
- Associate of Arts, Associate of Applied Science degree or a Certificate in Applied Sports Training from an accredited college is required.
- Flexible work schedule is required.
- CPR, First Aid, and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) Certification must be acquired within 30 days of hire.
- Two years’ experience in a leisure sports performance field is preferred.
