We are seeking a senior-level UX Writer/Content Designer - CONTRACT to join our design team and help us build great experiences that members love. We are looking for someone who has experience solving complex problems and crafting them into intuitive and feasible experiences that drive business goals, and support member needs. This person will work alongside a Lead UX Writer to lead, define, and explore new and exciting ways to help our members feel rewarded when they shop.

The ideal candidate has the ability to develop and communicate a strong point-of-view on copy, informed by research, design systems and writing guidelines. You will work closely with Designers, Researchers, Product Managers, Developers, Marketers, and Digital Strategists to develop clear and engaging customer experiences for account pages, the Rakuten browser extension, purchase experiences and the Help Center.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Craft Engaging Content: Develop and implement clear, concise, and engaging content informed by writing guidelines that supports and shapes the evolution of Rakutens Cash Back offerings. Ensure consistency with, and contribute to, our brand voice and product messaging documentation.
  • Ownership of Content Strategy: Take full responsibility for all aspects of the content creation process, including user research, content strategy, writing, and editing.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work effectively with Designers, Product Managers and Engineering to arrive at the best solutions.
  • Participate in Design and Squad Rituals: Regularly participate in review sessions, solicit feedback and provide feedback to the team.
  • Leverage User Research: Support and utilize user research to inform your work and advocate research findings to stakeholders through synthesis and readouts.
  • Be Self-Directed and Deadline-Oriented: Be self-directed, manage your time effectively, and meet deadlines consistently.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3-5 years UX work with related degree.
  • Proven experience as a Senior UX Writer or similar role.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing your ability to create engaging and user-centered content.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Figma.
  • Experience with user research and usability testing.
  • Spirit of proactive collaboration with stakeholders, including product, marketing, and digital strategy.
  • Able to build strong cross-functional partnerships and collaborate across disciplines to drive change into products.
  • Deep understanding of content strategy and information architecture.
  • A self-starter and able to manage and work on multiple projects concurrently

At the time of posting, Rakuten expects the hourly rate for this role will be between $50-60/hr. Individual compensation will vary based on job-related factors, including the skills, qualifications, and experience of the successful candidate as well as business need and geographic location.
