Santa Clara, CA Hybrid
The Commerce team is the backbone of Chegg - supporting every business line and functional organization at the company.
We are seeking a passionate, results-oriented engineer to solve our next generation challenges and help define our technical strategy. We have a team culture that encourages innovation and expects developers and management alike to take a high level of ownership for the product vision, technical architecture, and project delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop applications and components using React and TypeScript
- Have a strong eye for the operational aspects of the platform such as deployment, performance tuning and monitoring
- Lead and participate in critical, technical, and product discussions with leaders across our engineering, product and business teams
- Key player in delivering high-visibility pricing and packaging initiatives
- Ownership of the entirety of your features from design to deployment
- Work as an escalation point to troubleshoot any production issues
- Keep technical debt low by reinforcing our Engineering culture of code reviews, solid test coverage, and documentation
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of industry experience building highquality,highly performant, resilientandsecure presentation layers for high traffic sites
- Technical leadership in building and maintaining scalable production applications built with JavaScript/Typescript, NodeJS,NextJS,ReactandRedux
- Experience with TDD (Test driven development) to build unit testing and robust regression test suite
- Strong experience in implementing complexWebUIs that leverage RESTful and/or GraphQL based APIs.
- Experience debugging across the entirefrontendstack.
- Active interest not only in application code but alsomaintainable and scalablesoftware architectures.
- Effectivewritten and verbalcommunication skills. Must be a team player and work well in a team environment.
Preferred:
- Experience working in large scale e-commerce retailers
- Flexibility; able to quickly pivot based on business priorities
- Experience building internal tools
