Basic Function

The Kern Community College District (KernCCD) is seeking a Special Projects Advisor to the Chancellor. This position will be filled using a professional expert contract for a period of two years.

Representative Duties

The duties and responsibilities of the position are:

  • To act as a strategic advisor to the Chancellor and KernCCD’s executive leadership team.
  • To represent the Chancellor with internal and external stakeholders.
  • To ensure the timely and effective completion of projects as prioritized by the Chancellor.
  • To work with local, state, and national elected officials on projects that directly benefit KernCCD’s strategic initiatives.
  • To work with business, industry, government, and education partners on projects that directly benefit KernCCD’s strategic initiatives.
  • To lend support for projects and initiatives at Porterville College, Cerro Coso Community College, and Bakersfield College.

Minimum Qualifications


  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, history, political science, or a similar field. A combination of education, leadership experience, and political expertise will be considered as an equivalent to the minimum qualifications.
  • 3+ years in a business or executive management role.
  • Track record of successfully implementing and managing complex projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Existing, positive relationships with local, state, and national elected officials.
  • Existing, positive relationships with business, industry, education, and government partners.
  • Knowledge of the California Community College System.
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaboratives/coalitions.

SALARYNot to Exceed $16,000 per month
