Job Description:
This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of
plumbing utility systems, medical gas systems, and associated
equipment. Perform skilled plumbing repairs on all liquid and gas
transmission lines. Install and repair plumbing equipment and
medical gas systems; performs preventive maintenance on plumbing
equipment and medical gas systems.
Performs the full range of journey level plumbing duties involving
the installation of new plumbing, the repair of plumbing equipment
and the maintenance of building facilities & equipment. The
incumbent is responsible for meeting work schedules and service
requests, by providing effective and efficient maintenance
workmanship and leadership.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/experience/licensing:
• Must possess a High school diploma or equivalent GED
• Department of Labor or equivalent journeymen Plumber certificate
or associates degree or technical school certification and five (5)
or more years related experience.
• Valid driver’s license and insurability under UT driving
policies.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., works well with hands, and work
with close tolerance. Ability to climb ladders and stairs.
• Must have knowledge and skill in leadership, blueprint reading,
electrical wiring schematics, regulations, codes, mathematics, and
hand and power tool operation.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others, solve technical
problems, read technical documents, and work with dexterity is
required.
• An understanding of building layout, terminology, and university
policy and procedures to be obtained post hire.
Communication and other skills:
• Verbal skills to communicate with staff, patients, family
members, and management.
• Verbal skills to communicate with other trades and work
control.
