About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Part-Time Bookkeeper to support basic bookkeeping and administrative projects for a 6-month period as a 1099 contractor. This position is estimated to work part time hours, ranging from 16-24 hours per week. You will provide support onsite at our office, located in Parsippany, NJ.

Minimum hours worked per day must be 4 hours, between 8:30am-5:30pm. Hourly pay offered for the position is $25/hour.

In this temporary role, you will handle projects and tasks related to bank and account reconciliations, general ledger entries, accounts payable, cash processing, and related accounting administrative work. The ideal candidate is well-organized, understands accounting principles, and can work independently.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform bank reconciliations to ensure all transactions are recorded accurately
  • Prepare and post General Ledger entries to maintain accurate financial records
  • Reconcile various accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies
  • Manage accounts payable, including invoice processing, coding, and payments
  • Process and record cash transactions and deposits accurately
  • Apply cash receipts to customer accounts and manage outstanding balances
  • Complete and submit vendor forms, ensuring compliance with company policies
  • Provide accounting administrative support, including maintaining files, records, and reports
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes as needed
  • Collaborate with other team members to support overall financial operations

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or a related field
  • 2+ years of proven experience as a bookkeeper, accountant, or similar role
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online) and MS Office, particularly Excel
  • Your own equipment to complete the projects at hand (personal laptop and resources)
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practices
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality
