Job Description: As an HGV Mechanic, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing heavy goods vehicles used in waste collection and recycling operations. Your role ensures vehicle safety, efficiency, and compliance with environmental regulations. Employer: Ray Whelan Ltd – A leading waste management and recycling company dedicated to sustainability. Minimum Annual Remuneration & Benefits: From €40000 - €55000 per year (based on experience) This is a full-time, permanent position 20 days annual leave Competitive salary Location of Employment: Ray Whelan Ltd, Cannery Rd, Carlow Co. Carlow (R93R2X7) Ireland ⏰ Hours of Work: 45 hours per week. • Key Responsibilities: • Vehicle Maintenance: Perform routine servicing, inspections, and repairs. • Diagnostics & Repairs: Identify and fix mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues. • Fleet Compliance: Ensure vehicles meet safety and roadworthiness standards. • Breakdown Assistance: Respond to emergencies and minimize downtime. • Equipment Handling: Maintain compactors, hydraulic lifts, and waste collection mechanisms. • Safety & Efficiency: Follow health and safety protocols and optimize vehicle performance. Required Skills & Qualifications: • Relevant mechanical qualifications (HGV maintenance certification preferred). • Experience working with heavy-duty vehicles in waste or recycling operations • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. • A good level of English to collaborate efficiently with colleagues and clients.
