We are hiring a Manager Project Management (full-time) to join UTHealth UTHealth Houston School of Public Health in Houston, Tx. In this role you will be responsible for management, assignment, and coordination of project managers across the various activities and services within the Center for Health Care Data (Center). Additionally, you will work with the Assistant Director of Research to budget, plan, assign, and coordinate internal service projects, grants, and funded or non-funded research work. Ideal candidate should have at least 4 years of experience in project or program management. Supervisory experience and a background in consulting is also preferred. Position Summary: Responsible for management, assignment, and coordination of project managers across the various activities and services within the Center for Health Care Data (Center)Additionally, works with the Assistant Director of Research to budget, plan, assign, and coordinate internal service projects, grants, and funded or non-funded research work. Position Key Accountabilities: • Leads, manages and directs the work of project managers and provides managerial oversight for multiple projects, assigns projects, monitors work and deliverables. • Guides process development at a team level, and manages high-risk, high-impact and strategic projects across a multi-disciplinary, multi-function group of stakeholders. • Builds, trains, and manages project teams to expand their capabilities by establishing best practices, policies, project management methodologies, quality assurance and controls, tools, and templates. • Responsible for the coordination and completion of various and complex projects. • When serving as a project manager, oversees all aspects of projects and functions in a leadership capacity within the project. • Sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, monitors and summarizes project progress. • Prepares reports for upper management and government agencies regarding project status. • Works with leadership to manage projects and initiatives. • Interacts with representatives from various teams to develop, implement, and manage policies and procedures related to assigned projects. • Responsible for managing project budget compliance to ensure project stays on budget. • Budgets and defines expectations and scope of work for service contracts and monitors and reports on progress. • Budgets and defines expectations for external research • Communicates with researchers regarding feasibility and limitations of data requests • Collaborates effectively across teams within the Center. • Develops and maintains project documentation and may prepare and/or make oral presentations. • Performs other duties as assigned. Preferred Certification/Skills: • Background or exposure to research • Demonstrated skills in communications and presentations • 6 years of experience in project or program management, preferred. • 3 years of supervisory experience, preferred. • Consulting experience a plus. Minimum Education: • Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred Minimum Experience: • 4 years of experience in project or program management required Physical Requirements: Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects. Security Sensitive: This position is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094. To the extent that a position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Texas Business and Commerce Code §117.001(2), the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired for and to continue to be employed in that position. Personnel in such positions, and similarly situated state contractors, will be routinely reviewed to determine whether things such as criminal history or continuous connections to the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the applicant, employee, or contractor from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure. A foreign adversary is a nation listed in 15 C.F.R. §791.4. Residency Requirement: Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
