Performs a variety of skilled duties in building maintenance, landscaping maintenance, and custodial-related tasks for Iron County owned buildings as needed and directed. May work up to 25 hours per week depending on budget and workload.
Works under the general guidance and direction of the Facilities Maintenance Building Coordinator/Project Manager and the appointed Building Official/Zoning Administrator.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Graduation or equivalent and two (2) years in maintenance/building trades or a related field and ability to deal with the public in a positive manner.
Special Qualifications:
Must have a valid Utah Drivers License in good standing according to Iron County Policy.
Ability to: perform a variety of general and technical maintenance activities, including trouble shooting and repairing of various systems (i.e. plumbing, electrical distribution, electrical locking devices, lighting and power, programmable heating, venting and air conditioning, boilers, etc.); follow written and verbal instructions; read and interpret plan specifications and blue prints; develop effective working relationships with administrators, professionals, vendors, contractors, and the public; learn and follow instructions; communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Working Knowledge of: the operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems; the operation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing fixtures; electrical and mechanical systems, boilers, small motors, etc.; landscaping, sprinkler maintenance and repair and lawn care; knowledge of interpersonal communication skills; methods, materials, and equipment used in general custodial work.
Skill in: carpentry, plumbing, and/or other construction field; use of a variety of hand tools common to building maintenance and repair; reading and understanding mechanical drawings, drafting, blueprints or cartography.
