BASIC JOB FUNCTIONS:

Lead Massage Therapist supervises the massage therapists. Lead Massage Therapist is responsible for providing all the various massage services offered in The Spa at Mohonk Mountain House. Lead Massage Therapist is an active member of the Spa team and is responsible for maintaining a high level of guest service and satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform all massage services (as licenses allow) offered in the Spa as described in the Spa menu.
  • Responsible for operation of all tools and equipment needed to perform the Spa services described in the Spa menu.
  • Responsible for routine maintenance on equipment used to provide services. Advise Spa Director and maintenance if there are issues.
  • Responsible for coordinating the breakdown of rooms and moving equipment within the treatment rooms if needed.
  • Perform five to six services in one shift.
  • Clean and sanitize work area as per departmental policies.
  • Oversee therapists to ensure that the soiled linen from massage room(s) is removed and depositing in appropriate area.
  • Advise therapists of importance of their job duties and responsibilities, ensuring they follow the set up and break down of their rooms, daily.
  • Evaluate all therapists in the performance of their duties.
  • Assist Spa Director and/or Spa Manager with end of year/end of fiscal year suggestions, menu enhancements.
  • Engage staff to perform at their best.
  • Provide and/or arranges for in-service training for therapist staff.
  • Recommend new services and pricing to the Spa Director and Spa Manager.
  • Advise Spa Manager of inventory, ordering and maintaining par levels of therapist supplies including oils, lotions, cleaning supplies, essential oils, and etc.
  • Make oneself available to guests and act calmly and professionally in stressful situations.
  • Ensure that Mohonk employee policies and guidelines are followed
  • Assist Spa/Fitness Manager, Spa Recruiting and Training Supervisor in the hiring and training procedures.
  • Teach and demonstrate all massages offered at The Spa at Mohonk Mountain House
  • Make new hires comfortable in the Spa Prep room and get the oriented where things are
  • Perform professional recommendation of retail with the goal of 10% product sales to service revenue.
  • Demonstrate thorough familiarity of Spa services by performing professional recommendation of next experience for guests served in a meaningful and relevant manner
  • Attend offsite conferences and/or events as required.
  • Research and recommend CEU courses that staff can attend or that The Spa at Mohonk Mountain House can host.
  • Handle adversity, change and emergency situations calmly and with a level head.
  • Work productively and efficiently with or without supervision when performing tasks.
  • Adhere to Mohonk Mountain House’s Dress and Grooming Standards, presenting a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance and maintaining a positive, professional image to our customers.
  • Learn and successfully demonstrate the Mohonk Mountain House Service Steps with Service Strategies with guests and staff.
  • Learn and retain knowledge of historical facts and information about Mohonk Mountain House.
  • Attend events, programs, and trainings as needed to enforce and support Mohonk Mountain House policies and culture.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule including weekdays/weekends, holidays, and during peak periods of business. Maintain availability of a minimum of four shifts per week. 32/week
  • Listen well, communicate effectively and establish working relationships with other staff, management and guests that have a variety of educational backgrounds and values.
  • Speak, read, and write the English language and communicate in a clear and congenial manner, with our guests, visitors, and employees. Hear verbal instructions, directions, and warnings.
  • Reach with hands and arms, bend, kneel, stoop, twist and flex arms, walk up and down stairs/inclines, sit, climb up/down ladders or stand for up to 5 hours at a time.
  • Lift up to 75 pounds from ground level to 4 feet and carry a distance of up to 30 feet with/without assistance. Walk up to 3 miles a day.
  • Maneuver carts or dollies safely with loads up to 100 pounds up and down stairs, elevators, through passageways or outdoors up to 100 feet.
  • See close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust and focus.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid and current NYS License for Massage Therapy.
  • Minimum of 2 years work experience in a professional spa setting preferred.
  • Basic CPR/First Aid Certification preferred.
  • Prior supervisors experience helpful.
