General Description
The Engineering Intern is charged with the responsibility to assist manufacturing engineering processes of General Stamping & Metalworks. She/he will help prepare accurate, methods of manufacturing as needed.

This job description is intended to be an overview of primary responsibilities for this position. All employees are charged with providing assistance in generally similar duties when management deems it necessary. Special projects and activities may also be created where employees talents can best be utilized. In addition, General Stamping & Metalworks is a growing organization responding to an ever- changing market. It is expected that tasks and requirements will change from time to time and employees will be asked to respond as needed and within reason.
Organizational Relationships and Authority
The Engineering Intern is mentored by one of our Manufacturing Engineers and reports directly to the Engineering Manager. There are no direct management reports for this position. Engineering Interns collaborate extensively with the Operations Team.
Key Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the Engineering Intern is to support the continuous improvement process at GSM.

Potential Projects


Orientation print standardization or bill of material entry

Create standard operating procedures



Additional responsibilities include:
Working on the floor in each department to understand GSM processes for an as time allows
Completing tasks to support new equipment installation efforts (scheduling resources, recommending location and position, setting up maintenance schedules)
Works closely with Manufacturing Engineers, supervisors and operators to gain understanding of manufacturing capabilities in order to better evaluate opportunities
CAD Support
Bill of Material entry
Enters specifications
Enters control plan
Assists to complete prototypes and PPAP parts
Job Demands and Expectations

Qualifications and Competencies
To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess excellent ability for attention to detail. Success in this position requires ability to understand customer needs in depth and evaluate requirements relative to GSMs manufacturing capabilities. The Engineering Intern maintains an optimistic and supportive attitude towards customers and colleagues at all times, and maintains the strictest confidence regarding all issues and information relative to the companys operations, its employee, financial matters, and personal matters of which the employee may become aware in the course of their work.

Education
Enrolled in a credible engineering technology program, business, economics or related field
Certification in metal fabrication processes preferred
Experience
Junior year of BS program in Industrial, Mechanical or Technical Engineering Program preferred
