Job Description

Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. is seeking motivated interns / part-time associates to join their Internal Audit team in New York. The successful applicants will work alongside our Internal Auditors and perform testing on various audits. Part-time associates / Interns are expected to work 20-30 hours a week during the semester and may work 30-40 hours a week during semester breaks. At end of engagement, hired associates may be offered full-time employment as an operational or information technology / data analytic auditor based on individual�s performance and department availability.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform testing on various Information Technology, Data, Operational Controls, and document test results and key findings in audits alongside the Internal Audit Mangers;
  • Assist with Sarbanes-Oxley, SSAE-18 and FINRA 3130 testing under the direction of Internal Audit Managers;
  • Communicate with control owners in various business units within the firm to confirm or update controls for Sarbanes-Oxley testing;
  • Assist in the planning phase on assigned segments of audits;
  • Research risks and controls associated with audits;
  • Contribute to or prepare reports of audit status and findings for managers;
  • Perform special projects related to department administration and investigations.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least a Junior currently pursuing a Bachelor�s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related degrees;
  • GPA of 3.4 or above on a 4.0 scale;
  • Able to interface and articulate well with all levels of employees, management and audit clients in a highly professional, timely and friendly manner;
  • Must be responsible, analytical, organized, and demonstrate a high degree of initiative and inquisitiveness;
  • Have an interest in learning Auditing and being part of a dynamic and growing discipline;
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills

Compensation:

For job postings in New York City, Oppenheimer is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. This salary range is specific to the City of New York and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making salary decisions including but not limited to your skills, qualifications, experience, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The current base wage offered for this role is $20 per hour. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as discretionary bonus.
