GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: The Programmer/Analyst II position will develop varied solutions working with functional end-users, database admin, programmer/analysts, and other IT professionals in developing and supporting the business systems of the college. The position participates in life cycle application deployment to meet the colleges enterprise needs, including design, development, testing, assistance to non-senior developers, code review of peers, integration, and implementation. Specifically, this position will:

  • Design and develop automated and user-run processes to meet the colleges needs. Implement additional software functionalist and minor modifications to existing software, to meet the needs of functional offices.
  • Troubleshoot problems with the ERP system, other 3rd party applications, and custom designed software. Assist in identifying data integrity issues and software design issues.
  • Write and/or modify repots as needed by functional users. Assist functional users in the development and maintenance of reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES (representative, not all inclusive):

Applies knowledge of relational databases and programming with PL/SQL to develop reports, create embedded functions, and build enhancements to systems.

Apply knowledge of Banner or a similar ERP system to perform systems analysis, application design and programming, frequently for Human Resources, Finance and/or Financial Aid applications.

Apply knowledge of full life-cycle development, with strong planning and project management skills to work projects through the cycle. Manage multiple projects while sustaining daily operations.

Interface with a variety of customers and provide a high level of service, working collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.

Gather data via interviews and other activities to analyze and design new or modify existing computer projects.

Develop project implementation and testing specifications including project security and control procedures and backup/recovery plans.

Prepare program specifications; resolve problems; review results.

Document projects and modifications including documentation for user departments; fulfill administrative reporting requirements.

Research system software problems and organize necessary support to resolve problems.

Train systems users in one-on-one or group sessions.

Attend training as required to maintain, upgrade and acquire new skills.

Perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS (Required and Preferred):

Education/Training and Experience

Bachelors degree in information systems, computer programming, systems design or equivalent* required.

Work experience in systems analysis, application design and application programming required.

Work experience in database programming with PL/SQL required.

Extensive experience with Oracle SQL and a high degree of comfort working with various other database environments including SQL servers, mySQL, PostgreSQL and LDAP required.

Experience working on moderately complex IT projects with technical responsibilities required.

Work experience in a higher education IT environment preferred.

*Will consider a Bachelors degree in something other than information systems and additional training plus extensive applied work experience providing a foundation in information systems.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of relational databases and programming with PL/SQL including the demonstrated ability to develop reports, create embedded functions and build enhancements to systems required.

Knowledge of Banner or a similar ERP system, with demonstrated skills in systems analysis, application design and programming. required. Specific knowledge in Human Resources, Finance and/or Financial Aid preferred.

Knowledge of web applications programming and the use of APIs required.

Knowledge of full-cycle development, with strong planning and project management skills and the ability to work a project through the cycle required.

Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects while sustaining daily operations required.

Skills in using Linux and Windows operating system required.

Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with the demonstrated ability to interface with a variety of customers and provide a high level of service and work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment required.

Ability to work using independent judgment, follow oral and written instructions, meet deadlines, and work under pressure while maintaining effective interpersonal relationships required.

A working knowledge of ColdFusion, Java, Argos, Power BI or other common programming languages preferred.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

This is a 12-month, full-time position assigned to pay grade 4 of the administrative and supervisory/professional salary schedule. College business hours are Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. on campus. This position is eligible for partial WFH with two days remote and three days on campus following the completion of six months of employment and satisfactory completion of required training and departmental orientation.
