Job Description
Canteen is a dynamic food service company operating as part of the larger Compass Group USA, a global leader in foodservice management. Dedicated to enhancing workplace experiences, Canteen combines food, service, and technology to deliver superior break time solutions through market cafes, office coffee and snacks, unattended retail, and culinary services. With a mission to create better workplace environments, Canteen emphasizes innovation and employee engagement that drives continuous growth and transformation in the food service industry.
Located in Fayetteville, NC, Canteen is currently seeking a Floating Chef to join their culinary team. This role offers a competitive salary range of $50,000 to $65,000 annually, with bonus eligibility, and a standard work schedule from Monday to Friday, generally spanning early mornings to mid-afternoon. The Floating Chef plays a pivotal role in supporting multiple client locations within Fayetteville and nearby areas, performing diverse culinary duties while ensuring high standards in food quality and service.
As a Floating Chef, the individual will provide frontline culinary resources and assistance to operational teams, contributing directly to client satisfaction and operational excellence. This position requires managerial responsibilities such as scheduling, discipline, and possibly hiring, under the guidance of higher culinary management including the Executive Chef or Sous Chef. Additionally, the role involves collaborating on menu development, recipe creation, and order management, which requires a creative and detail-oriented culinary professional.
The Floating Chef also plays an integral part in cost control measures, monitoring food costs, purchasing activities, and maintaining strict adherence to quality guidelines. With a focus on both day-to-day culinary tasks and special events, the Floating Chef will coordinate the execution of catering functions and introduce new culinary programs aligned with marketing and corporate strategies. This role demands not only culinary expertise but also strong organizational skills and the ability to manage complex food service operations efficiently.
This opportunity is ideal for an energetic, entrepreneurial culinary professional looking to expand their career within an established and innovative company. The role offers exposure to various high-volume food service settings including restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, and health care environments. Canteen values hands-on chef experience and extensive catering knowledge, ensuring that employees operate with a comprehensive understanding of food trends, sanitation, production, presentation, and cost controls.
Joining Canteen means becoming part of a team committed to equal opportunity employment and fostering a workplace environment that values diversity and inclusion. The company supports fair treatment for all applicants and associates without discrimination. Moreover, the position is backed by an attractive benefits package designed to support employees’ health, wellbeing, and work-life balance, making it a rewarding career path for dedicated culinary professionals.
