Authoritative listings, engaging features and critical reviews—make Time Out New York a trusted “bible” for young, active New Yorkers. Sometimes irreverent but always intelligent, Time Out New York’s passionate coverage of music, film, theater, dance, shopping, dining (and much, much more) fosters a loyal readership of New York consumers who are in-the-know and on-the-go.

The editorial intern is a hands-on internship and is best suited to students who possess a passion for writing and arts & culture, and are enthusiastic about the Time Out brand and all things NYC. Our interns become integral members of our editorial team as they experience the day-to-day digital publishing process alongside our editors and writers. All interns will gain experience writing event listings, fact-checking, and researching and writing articles.

Here’s what you will do:

Pitch and write 2-3 short news posts every week

Learn how we create audience growth strategy based on data and analytics Work on 1 longer feature with interviews once a week

Sit down with editors for live edits on your stories and listings

Help edit and fact-check posts and features

Create event listings for Things to Do using press releases

Shadow each editor for a week at a time (timing depends on availability and interest) Create at least 2-3 TikToks per month (would huddle with video team for this) Learn how to make a good pitch

Hone Time Out New Yorks voice

Tell stories through imagery, interviews and social media
