Role Description: As a Legal Investigative Analyst, within our dynamic legal department, you will primarily assist in the identification, investigation, review, response, and resolution of matters related to the misuse of CoStar content and services.
This position requires a high level of interaction with staff at various levels and across multiple departments, in particular sales and customer support. You will need strong communication skills and familiarity with excel, as well as the ability to review, analyze and convey information quickly and succinctly via email and phone conversations, diligent record keeping, documentation and organizational abilities.
You will be a part of a team that receives attention from all levels of company leadership. In the past years our work to combat content theft has been covered in the Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, NBC News, and many other publications.
Responsibilities:
Identify, prioritize, investigate, and assist in the resolution of a busy case load of investigations, including improper use of CoStar services, data theft and infringement.
Monitor, review, respond to and assist in the resolution of password sharing, access by unauthorized individuals or entities, misuse of CoStar services and/or misappropriation of CoStar content.
Communication with parties involved in the suspected misuse of CoStar services.
Documentation of processes and the organization of records and case material.
Assisting with initiatives to protect CoStar intellectual property.
Provide as-needed investigatory and other support for legal matters.
Advise business team members regarding proper licensing practices.
Develop and maintain an in-depth working knowledge of the CRE Industry and CoStar's business model / technology.
Internal Candidate Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited, not-for-profit University or College.
2+ years' experience in an internal role, with knowledge related to real estate, real estate technology companies, CSGP products, services and how we offer these services.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with ability to be flexible and adapt to frequently changing workload and responsibilities.
The ability to work with, analyze, translate, and understand data.
Excellent analytical skills.
Working knowledge and usage of MS Excel, including usage of filters, functions, data entry, as well as working with and data organization techniques.
Acute attention to detail.
Ability to multi-task.
A track record of commitment to prior employers.
Preferred prior experience with; the identification and/or resolution of password or license sharing, licensing reviews & resolutions, intellectual property protection, Legal (corporate) investigations, digital forensics, data analytics or similar related experience.
Evidence of strong academic performance in college.
External Candidate Qualifications:
