Responsible for a variety of duties that contribute towards safely providing requested services for aircraft, crews and passengers. Follow rules and regulations at all times. Off-load and load luggage from aircraft. Stocking bags on the baggage cart and aircraft servicing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

  • Guide and direct incoming and outgoing aircraft on the taxiway to ensure that they are entering or leaving their gate safely and on-time.
  • Load, unload, sort, and appropriately transfer passenger baggage, cargo/freight, and company materials. Some of these items can weigh up to 75 lbs.
  • Drive ground equipment such as tugs to help the plane push in/out of the gate, belt loaders to help load baggage, and bag carts to deliver baggage to the claim area or the connecting flight.
  • Supervision of fuel loading on the aircraft.
  • Collaborate with the internal team to ensure a safe and on-time departure.
  • May clean the interior of the aircraft, clean and service aircraft lavatories.
  • Create a positive start to a passengers trip by being the first to greet the passenger and providing a seamless check-in and ticketing experience.
  • Use appropriate reservation/ticketing software to rebook itineraries, issue boarding passes, calculate and collect any appropriate fees.
  • Collaborate with the internal team to ensure passenger information is processed accurately and flights are sent out on time.
  • Listen to passengers and resolve their issues in accordance to company policies and procedures as a result of flight interruptions in a timely and friendly manner.
  • May work in the Baggage Service Office to track the location of baggage and handle passenger questions.
  • Ensure that facilities are maintained in optimal condition, reporting any irregularities.
  • Ensure that local security procedures are carried out.
  • Custody and surveillance of the aircraft and processes during its stay on the platform
  • Successfully complete required airline trainings.

  • Ability to speak with a clear, well-modulated voice in English and Spanish.

  • Ability to use computer hardware, various software programs and technologies, including word processing and Excel spreadsheet programs. (Finalist(s) will be tested in the use of Excel program)

  • Ability to perform strenuous and routine work.
  • Ability to maintain harmonious and effective working relationships with other employees and respond to general public complaints.

  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency
  • At least one (1) year of experience in customer service, clerical, or administrative support

Valid Texas Identification card or Government Issued card is required at the time of job offer and hire. Must have reliable form of transportation to and from work site and is expected to arrive at work site on a timely basis.


As part of the minimum requirements for all positions with the City of Laredo, a thorough background check and certified school transcripts will be required from all applicants who are offered employment.
