POSITION SUMMARY:

The Registered/Certified respiratory therapist maintains a broad knowledge of respiratory care theory, principles and applications. This broad knowledge coupled with his/her clinical, technical, administrative, communicative and outcome monitoring skills will be used to provide delivery of effective respiratory care for patients at FMC. Responsible to enhance the respiratory care knowledge and skill levels of Cardiopulmonary Services, Nursing Services and other allied health personnel.

CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of the department and the hospital. Works with supervisor/manager and other members of section or department to promote a harmonious work environment. Ensures that all contacts with patients, the public, physicians and other hospital personnel are carried out in a friendly, courteous, helpful and considerate manner. Answers telephones in a prompt and courteous manner. Displays concern and provides assistance or explains procedures as appropriate to callers or in face-to-face situations. Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Works with customers to identify problem areas and recommend solutions.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (including required licenses/certifications, education and job knowledge/experience):

• Current FL license as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
• Current BLS Certification
• Possess a minimum of one-year clinical experience in respiratory care at an TJC accredited hospital
• Broad knowledge in pediatric through geriatric respiratory care to include therapeutics and diagnostics
• Effective oral and written communication skills
