The Utah Department of Corrections is seeking a self-motivated and dependable employee who is very detail-oriented and takes pride in their work to join our team as a Criminal Information Tech II. This position will be in the Interstate Compact Office. You will provide advanced-level support and have specialized knowledge of the Interstate Compact Unit. You will manage your own caseload, and ensure data and documentation are accurate and complete, and timelines are met.

NOTE: This is a part-time position with benefits. This is also an in office/hybrid position.

Principle Duties
A Criminal Information Tech II is responsible to work in the Interstate Compact Office environment to include the following tasks:

  • Receives, processes and responds to information requests from Adult Probation and Parole Agents, allied law enforcement agencies, out-of-state registry offices, courts, attorneys, and offenders.
  • Responsible for providing authorized agencies with information on the interstate compact cases.
  • Responsible to request, opening, maintain and update investigation files and other records.

  • Has knowledge and/or experience with Evidence-Based practices.
  • Is very detail oriented and willing to learn and adapt to new ways.
  • Works well under pressure.

Preference
Preference may be given to those who:
  • Has working experience in a law enforcement agency.
  • Has experience in case management.
  • Has experience working in the ICOTS computer program.
  • Has knowledge of the ICAOS.
  • Has knowledge of UCJIS, O-Track, Xchange and/or UDOCA

Example of Duties

  • Searches, retrieves and researches public/private records in accordance with applicable state and federal laws governing access to these records.
  • Audits and enters data into a computer system and retrieves, corrects previously entered data.
  • Drafts correspondence, reports, documents and other written materials.
  • Performs initial background and history research on individual(s) being investigated as well as screens, composes and controls sensitive data or documentation.
  • Ensures that agency and state records are properly classified, processed and controlled.
  • Maintains accurate records and logs.
  • May require overnight travel.
  • Professional in assisting, directing and/or corresponding via email and/or phone.
  • Responsible for maintaining caseload, and meeting deadlines for both federal and state agencies.
  • Responsible for completing monthly reports.
  • Manages Compact email and Interstate Compact reports.

Supplemental Information

  • Part-time position with the Utah Interstate Compact office in Draper, UT. You will work 25-30 hours per week and work hours shall fall between M-F 7am - 6pm. Position comes with benefits.
  • Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
  • Must pass thorough background investigation.
  • Hiring officials may identify additional related skills and requirements as preferences in making hiring and promotional decision.
  • Successfully pass the Utah Bureau of Identification Proficiency test within one month of employment and maintain certification thereafter.
  • Successfully pass the Utah Notary exam within the first year of employment
