The UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute and Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology is recruiting a cardiologist
to join our expanding team. The successful candidate will practice as a cardiologist in a dual capacity within the UPMC
Heart and Vascular Institute (HVI) and the University of Pittsburgh Department of Medicine to include clinical, research, and teaching responsibilities. He/she will participate in outreach efforts for the HVI, expanding inpatient and outpatient
activities at locations within the HVI service area. As a faculty member, the successful candidate will actively participate in
the research and educational mission of the HVI.
Cardiology Faculty positions at various levels in the tenure/non-tenure track are available at the University of Pittsburgh
with rank and salary commensurate with experience and academic credentials. The candidate should have demonstrated
teaching ability, experience in advanced study and research, or professional experience of a kind that would enable
him or her to make a comparable academic contribution. He or she should exhibit promise of originality and excellence in
some field connected with teaching, writing, or research, and should have demonstrated ability in guiding and counseling
students.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
procedures, Cardiac Imaging, and Electrophysiology
Available positions are open to all applicants who hold doctoral-level education in the field of medicine (MD, DO), are
board certified or board eligible, are qualified for medical licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and completed
necessary training related to the Cardiology specialty to provide clinical service.
General rank requirements: An assistant professor should have demonstrated teaching ability, experience in advanced
study and research, or professional experience of a kind that would enable them to make an academic contribution. An
associate professor will have a strong experience with an impactful scholarship, a local, regional, and developing national
reputation, effectiveness as a teacher, and service. Professors level should have attained superior stature in their field
through scholarship, professional practice, and leadership in professional and learned organizations.
