Accountant I''s perform the most routine accounting work requiring working knowledge of accounting principles and practices while learning to perform duties of a more complex nature.We are currently seeking to fill one (1) Accountant I vacancy within the Department of Conservation and Development, however, the eligible list established from this recruitment may also be used to fill other countywide vacancies as they arise. About the Department of Conservation and Development: The Department of Conservation and Development (DCD) is headed by a Director, and within DCD there are five (5) divisions under a Deputy Director or Assistant Deputy Director: 1) Current Planning; 2) Policy Planning; 3) Building Inspection Services; 4) Business and Information Services; and 5) Housing and Community Improvement. DCD’s main office is located in Martinez. DCD has a total staffing of approximately 175 positions serving the entire County of Contra Costa.We are looking for someone who is: A team player. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Application Filing and Evaluation: Applicants will be required to complete a supplemental questionnaire at the time of application, applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process. Online Assessment: An online, multiple-choice assessment will be administered to all accepted candidates. This Assessment will measure competencies, including but not limited to: Analyzing & Interpreting Data, Mathematical Facility, Attention to Detail, Reading Comprehension, Writing, Using Technology, Building & Maintaining Relationships, Self-Management, and Teamwork. Tentatively scheduled to take place virtually: December 2, 2025 - December 8, 2025. (Weighted 100%)The assessment will be administered remotely using a computer. You will need access to a reliable internet connection to take the assessment. It is not recommended to take the assessment using a cell phone. Departmental Interview: December 2025If you apply for another recruitment that uses this exam and the test is scheduled within 6 months of the date you took the test this time, you will not have the option to re-take the exam.
