A distribution SME are seeking an experienced Company Accountant to join their small office of 10 people in South County Dublin. This distribution group have a turnover of €17 million in their Irish entity, reporting into the UK group. Long-established with an excellent reputation and market share, this Company Accountant job will offer excellent job security and a strong benefits package for an experienced accountant who is happy to lead finance for the Irish entity while managing a small finance team.
The company works 4 days in office with 1 day working from a week, and do offer flexibility on start and finish times for their 37.5 hour working week.
Your new role
Reporting into group finance in the UK, this Company Accountant/Accounting Team Lead job will be lead finance for Ireland, managing 2 direct reports and closely supporting the Managing Director and Finance Director. Your duties will include but are not limited to:
• Manage and mentor two direct reports (finance operations), overseeing all AR/AP and finance operations, ensuring accuracy.
• Manage the full month end close process - prepayments, accruals, fixed asset, balance sheet recs, bank recs etc.
• Act as point of contact for the annual audit process
• Prepare and file bi-monthly VAT3 returns (IE) and quarterly VAT100 (UK
• Providing support and guidance to team on all VAT-related processes is a key part of this role
• Provide the MD and FD with management insights on company performance - customer spend, costs, detailed variance analysis, trends
• Prepare monthly reporting pack for senior management
• Contribute to budgeting and forecasting process, for review by Finance Director
• Working capital management
What you'll need to succeed
• You will be an experienced accountant, either fully qualified or qualified by experience, with industry experience
• You will be content to contribute in a hands-on nature in an SME environment in a role at this level
• Strong Irish VAT experience
• Experience managing people at different levels in their career
• Month end management experience
• Ability to be the link between finance and senior management to provide insights on Irish entity performance
